Anchor Foster Care Services Ltd

Anchor Foster Care are a 'not for profit' independent fostering agency, which was founded in 2002 by a couple of directors who had a desire to provide the right kind of support to foster carers to enable them to provide a consistent level of care for children and young people who could not live with their birth parents. The founders are both qualified social workers, one with extensive experience in social care for looked after children.

The intention was to attract and recruit people from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities who could offer a positive experience to children and young people from different ethnicities, backgrounds and abilities.

Children and young people who have had traumatic experiences are likely to make considerable demands on foster carers. However, the level of training and support offered by Anchor Foster Care Services enables foster carers to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to cope.

We specialise in working with difficult to place children and young people who may have suffered different forms of abuse. We also provide care for unaccompanied asylum seeking children, children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. These carers bring their own experience of deafness and are able to use these experiences to help children and young people reach their potential despite their disability. We have carers trained in the management of oxygen for children that are oxygen dependant. A family has had their home adapted to cater for a wheel chair user with a wet room. We also run a therapeutic service provided by a selective number of our carers.
